UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has recently undergone a divorce with his now ex-wife Giorgina Uzcategui. This divorce came after she had discovered that he had been texting other women and going behind her back. To a lot of MMA fans this comes as disappointing, as Ilia Topuria has held up an honest and sharp reputation up until this point.

No matter the speculations of why he might’ve done this, nobody deserves to be cheated on and the outlook on this champion has certainly changed. Many fans have compared this recent controversy to Conor McGregor’s. Many have compared Ilia Topuria to the former champion in the past, but it seems now that the facts are coming to fruition now more than ever.

Conor McGregor’s sexual assault charge is way worse than anything that Topuria has done, but it seems as if Ilia Topuria is going down the same road that the former featherweight and lightweight champion had gone through before his eventual assault charge.

Many fans also beg the question, “will this recent controversy affect Topuria’s focus when it comes to fighting?” And that question can only be speculated at this point. One can imagine that a divorce, especially one this harsh and one-sided, might come with some unfortunate side effects. Some also question that this divorce might actually focus the young champion even more. Some saying that the heartbreak from the divorce might spark an inner rage that will present itself in the octagon.

Whether this divorce will affect Ilia’s performance inside the octagon, we give our dearest apologies to Giorgina and their kids. Nobody deserves that kind of mistrust and his kids don’t deserve the heartbreak and potential lasting consequences of their parents splitting. The consequences of both will be revealed after time.
